Being that the birds from Gary are 3 months younger, it will be a while before I can cull and put the ones I'm keeping in with these. Don't want all the bickering among them. lol I still have 6 pullets and 1 Cockerel from Jim but one of the pullets is just running in my yard. She hurt herself so I had to take her out from the rest. I don't really know if I will be able to put her back in with them later or not. I may have to just keep her for a pet. She is so nice but caught her neck on a nail and the others picked her pretty bad. She is eating etc but don't know if it will heal up right. Just makes me sick.
5/23/2013 This girl is doing just great and I have 100% good thoughts that she is going to make a full recovery. Haven't put her back in with the SC flock yet but will in another week or so. I don't want the roo trying to mate with her yet because of her head and neck feathers.

5/15/2013 I just went and took a few shots of the birds to put on this page.
These birds were 6 months old 5/10/2013 I just love them. None of these girls have pinched tails. Some have a little of the red lacing around the black tail feathers but I'll just have to work on that. I didn't really expect perfection and am very satisfied with these.
5/19/2013 Got my first egg from these girls pen. Six months 9 days old. These are sure some nice girls.
Oh my, the weather is getting so hot. Don't know if they will start laying well in this heat or not. Our humidity is terrible and combined with the heat it is really terrible.

5/23/2013 I have 5 girls in this group right now until I put the other one in that was hurt then will be 6. They have started laying but not quite as well as the RC's yet. I am so overwhelmed with this line of the RIR's. They are just super in type, color, size, temperament etc. I am so glad that I got these and only hope that the ones that I got directly from Gary turn out to be as good as these. I should have a very nice group to start out 2014 with. If anyone has a chance to get any of these birds, don't pass it by.
5/28/2013 Just took a few shots of the SC group today. They are 6 months, 2 weeks and 4 days old today. A few of these have started to lay. They are really getting nice.
6/4/2013 These hens and cock are getting absolutely gorgeous. I am sooooo thankful to Jim Heinz for the eggs last year. WOW, what chickens.
I posted the picture (second row) of this boy on RIRCA facebook page along with one of the pullets (3rd row on right) and got some really nice comments. This comment really meant a lot to me.

Hey Jim,
I think I'm in love. LOL Don't tell my wife. I can't believe the looks of some of those pullets you hatched from my eggs. I think I sent you the wrong eggs. LOL I meant to set those for my show string. Seriously, you are doing a great job with those Reds. Keep up the great work.

6/19/2013 A very nice evening here in Pa. and I was just out walking around and thought I should take some shots of these guys. I just stand and admire how nice they are getting. These were 7 months old on the 10th. I love the wide heads on these pullets.
7/5/2013 These birds will be 8 months old on the 10th. I sure am so happy to have gotten these. NO, he doesn't carry his wing down. He is just hot. lol
The picture of the pullets wing was taken today, 8/30/2013, the Cockerel wing was taken 8/1/2013
First two pictures are of the Cockerels wing, picture on right is one of the pullets. Went out on the back porch and there she was sunning herself so I hurried and got this picture. Gee, I didn't have to work at all to get this one. lol Guess I trained her pretty well.

11/3/2013 Got an email from Bob Blosl just a short time before his passing telling me that a fella had gotten in touch with him wanting RIR's. Bob told him to get in touch with me. I got an email a few days later from the fella. I told him I would save and set eggs for him. I set 21 eggs 10/23, on 10/30 I put 18 eggs into lock down, I had 15 hatch, the last 3 didn't hatch. Below are pictures of the 15. These chicks will be leaving for Ohio tomorrow. The last picture was taken morning of 11/4/2013 babies all boxed up and ready to go to PO for their journey to their new home. I just hate doing this. I worry so much that they will get chilled on the way even with the heat packs. I just really love these little things and it is sure hard to ship them out.
Got email from family in Ohio that the 15 babies all arrived safe and are doing fine. I hope they get to raise them all. The daughter of this family does show and is planning on showing these babies when they grow up. Thank you Jesus for protecting these little critters on their journey.
1/10/2014 My birds haven't been out for approx a week. It was so cold. Today is pretty nice and I let them out. They are sure enjoying themselves. These are the parents of the chicks above.
5/6/2014 My SC Underwood boy at 18 months. Have just a handful of these eggs in the bator. Thought I better set a few since this is my only SC Cock bird.
